About Us
Founded in 2002 by Mr. Par-Dieu Mayenikini following a report from the Agency for the Dissemination of International Humanitarian Law in Central Africa (ADDIHAC) reporting the presence of anti-personnel mines along the common border between the DRC and Angola.
The Congolese Campaign to Ban Landmines was launched to end the suffering caused by anti-personnel mines and explosive remnants of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The CCIM is a member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and the Coalition Against Cluster Munitions (ICBL-CMC).
Working in partnership with the State of the DRC to support or support its efforts against anti-personnel mines and cluster munitions. The CCIM succeeded in encouraging the Congolese State to become a State Party to the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of Mines on 02/05/2002. Currently, the CCIM is urging the Congolese State to ratify the Cluster Munitions Treaty and implement laws and policies to assist mine victims and persons with disabilities.
Our approach
We aim to reach landmines survivors and people with other disabilities.
Once in contact with disabled we ensure that we understand their needs, respect their right and provide them with the possible assistance to meet their needs.
Since most of our beneficiaries are disabled with special needs, we include families and communities support while we are assisting. We provide them with assistance in health, education and livelihood.
By training them, we equip them with the skills which introduce them into work, small business or to engage in activities such as agriculture, livestock to develop their communities and also for them to be able to generate income which will allow them to provide for themselves, and stay sustainable even after we left.
